Overview
The Coalition’s efforts to reduce underage and binge drinking among 18- to 25-year-olds in our community is titled Project 1825.
Project 1825 is funded by a four year State Incentive Grant that was awarded to the Asset Building Coalition and the Monroe County Commissioners July of 2007. The Coalition analyzed key statistics and community conditions related to alcohol use and abuse which provided the foundation of a comprehensive epidemiological profile of Monroe County. The following are key findings from that profile:
Statistics for 18-25 yr. Olds in Our County:
- 83% of all substance related offenses*
- 63% of the OWI arrests*
- 67% of the public intoxication arrests*
- 97% of the illegal consumption arrests*
*as reported by the Bloomington Police Department and Indiana University in 2007.
