Indiana Strategic Prevention Framework
Project 1825 is funded through a State Incentive Grant which adheres to guidelines as set forth by the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). The Strategic Prevention Framework (see graphic below) is a process guide for prevention professionals and community stakeholders to follow when planning and implementing prevention initiatives for their community.
It is a five step process that encompasses the best practices of prevention and is designed to bring community stakeholders together in collaboration through various workgroups. Key ideas include a lifespan focus, community-level change, data driven decision making, and the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based programs.
The SPF requires communities to systematically:
- Assess their prevention needs based on epidemiological data,
- Build their prevention capacity,
- Develop a strategic plan,
- Implement effective community prevention programs, policies and practices
- Evaluate their efforts for outcomes.
